7-Eleven Run 1000 2014 Cavitex

Congratulations to all the finishers of the 7-11 run 1000  that took place on CAVITEX!

It was indeed fun run for everyone especially for us because it's our first time to run organized by 7-11 and it was held at Cavite expressway also known as CAVITEX.

Our 21k wave was about to start when we arrived at the venue yet we were surprised that the booths at race village were actively giving freebies to runners. Oh such pity for us that we only got few items.

The race starts on time but we really ran quite slow on first half. Yes, it was really our planned to run with 2:1 run/walk interval pace following the race method we have learned from The Dream Marathon sessions which is about less 1 month to go :)

The route offers 3 major energy hydration which really depends on the type of what your body needs. You can choose  from Pocari Sweat, Gatorade and Powerade.

Though it was a great to run along the stretch of Cavitex, the smell was not quite satisfying because it is just beside Manila Bay which has not been maintained from waste pollution several years back in time. Also, the smoke coming from vehicles makes running quite difficult and affects the performance of some runners.

After the first half of half-marathon, we taught we still had the energy to finish the race strong so we had to increased some speed passing some of the runners that passed us from the first half of CAVITEX. Surprisingly, some of them already encountered cramps, side stitches, and other common injuries of a runner but we knew they will be able overcome it and finish the race.

Almost strong to finish the race but last the 5km of half marathon, my lateral collateral ligament on left leg and osgood schlatter on right leg felt soreness. I really thought my LCL injury was already gone but it looks like it really needs more time to be healed.

My girlfriend felt soreness on her left foot and she thought her shoe caused it.

I asked her to go ahead running and I will do super fast walkathon because my injuries can't take the gravity of running anymore. I did some intervals but there were times I can't bend my left knee.

Finally, after almost sub 3 Half-Marathon, I was able to catch my girlfriend and both of us finished the race with same time. It was a new PR for her but we were really trying to push sub 3 if not because of the injuries we have. Also, salts can be seen all over our bodies due to the coldness of environment that made our sweats got dried.

The injuries we had were very painful that we planned to take the loot bags first then rest for a while before exploring the race village. Apparently, we were surprised of the long queue just to get the loot bags. Well, instead of ranting, we just took the opportunity to rest until our turn to get the items.

With difficulties of walking, we still rushed to race village to get more freebies on every booths.

Foods were all over the place but almost half were already closed due to the items were already given to runners that arrived earlier at the venue.

Overall, the run was successful and will definitely run on next year :)
